Jackie's Reply: It depends where you are and what business you are talking about. In the tourist parts, the shops stay open later in the summer and close earlier in the winter.

Siesta is usually abided by in the really hot summer months so be aware some places may be shut after lunch until 4 pm.

As a rule of thumb:

Restaurants:usually for lunch and dinner and close in between but stay open until often the last customer has gone home.

Public Services: Usuall open early at around 7.30 am till 3.30 pm and may close for lunch as well. So if you need the town hall, don't go around lunchtime.

Tourist Shops: Open 10 am or later and stay open until late into the evening.
